Work together with other community members to complete a community improvement project of your choosing!

Do you have ideas and/or the drive to improve the Village of Union?  Are you tired of remembering or hearing stories about what Union use to be?  Do you support downtown revitalization or bringing more services into town (Meals on Wheels, access to technology, curbside recycling, etc.)?  Please contact Mindy at 402-890-8287 or editor@unionnebraska.com to sign up for the Union's Leadership Challenge!  The Nebraska Department of Economic Development will host a kick-off meeting on Thursday, Februrary 26th and it is our goal to have at least 25 people in attendance.  Do not let this opportunity pass you by!

Start Collecting Your Recyclables!

plasticscansjunkmail

In March, Union will begin hosting a multi-stream recycling trailer in the village on a monthly basis.  Union hopes to expand on the efforts by applying for a grant to provide individual recycling bins for every residence in the Village. These individual recycling bins would make recycling extremely convenient for all residents, as recyclable items can be collected throughout the month at home (no need for sorting!!) and then transferred to the recycling trailer when it is in town.  There will be a calendar printed indicating where the recycling trailers will be at all times, as well as a list of acceptable recyclable items.  Please look for more information coming soon on how you can help Union "go green."

Start collecting your household recyclable items NOW!  Items that can be recycled are: 1) paper, 2) aluminum and steel/tin cans and 3) plastics items, food containers, reusable food storage containers, etc.  And remember, there is no need to sort because all of the recyclable material is placed into the same recycling trailer!
