Village of Union Board Meeting this Wednesday!

Uniondowntown.jpeg

The following story was shared with me by a person involved in local politics.  After attending last month's Village Board Meeting, I thought it was appropriate:

"An old Cherokee Indian was telling his grandson about a fight going on inside him, a fight between two wolves.  One wolf is evil: anger, envy, sorrow, regret, greed, arrogance, self-pity, guilt, resentment, inferiority, lies, false pride, superiority, and ego.  The other is good: joy, peace, love, hope, serenity, humility, kindness, benevolence, empathy, generosity, truth, compassiion, and faith.

The grandson thought about it a minute and asked his grandfather, 'Which wolf wins?"  The old Cherokee simply replied, The one I feed."

*Get rid of that old car that is leaking oil into our ground water and unpleasant to look at.

*Recycle the old tires and help prevent the spread of West Nile Disease by eliminated misquote habitats.

*Do not throw your electronics into the dumpster headed for the landfill, bring them to the e-waste collection so they can be recycled appropriately and responsibly.

*Eliminate the old appliances that are taking up space in your garage or yard.  Help pick up litter on Mains Street or in the park.

*Help plant trees.

ANYTHING to help improve and beautify our community . . . that is what Union's Clean Up & Green Up weekend is all about!

Scrap Tire Collection

scrap_tire

Please bring your used tires to the collection site (1st & "A" Street in the park) this Saturday or Sunday to be recycled.  Not only are scrap tires unsightly when stored on your property, they are also the perfect habitats for mosquitoes which spread West Nile Virus.  Thanks to a grant from the Cass/Sarpy County Health Department and T.O. Haas, we are providing the tire collection for FREE to all community members for the first 250 tires!  Do your part to clean up and help protect your community!  Get rid of your scrap tires (with our without rims)!
