VILLAGE OF UNION MEETING MINUTES MARCH 13, 2024 Trustee Hill called the monthly meeting for February to order at 7:00 pm at the Union Office/Fire Hall at 500 Main St. The Open Meeting Laws were displayed for public reference. A property owner also contacted the clerk for information on the location of property lines for her and her neighbor because of access problems arising while trying to maintain her building. CLERK REPORT – Clerk took park in a ClerkBooks demo for a product they are developing to replace the need for QuickBooks Desktop which Intuit has announce won’t be available to subscribe to after June 1, 2024. ClerkBooks modules now interface with the Desktop version, and is not compatible with the Online version Inuit is pushing. Worst case scenario, ClerkBooks is compatible with the Enterprise version, but this version contains a lot of things municipalities do not need. Village Maintenance Report – Heyen reported 1,503,000 gallons of water metered and pumps ran for 262 hours. The lift station processed 732,000 gallons. Heyen rebuilt a vacuum pump for the lift station. Heyen also noted that a lagoon pipe he has been looking to repair is now visible. He asked the Chair if he can hire his grandson as an assistant to work with him on this project. Heyen also asked if he can contract summer help for park maintenance this upcoming season. Chairman Seyler agreed to both. Fire/Rescue Report- NTR Union United Inc. Report: Spring Clean-up and Green-up is scheduled for April 20 and 21, 2024. The playground project has been staked for ground work. Seyler is planning on two to three days for ground preparation, one day to dig anchor holes, two days to assemble the equipment and one day to pour concrete. The Clerk will order rubber mulch when the installation dates are scheduled and the project is nearing completion. New Business: Hill motioned to approve Union’s participation in a community funding agreement for the Cass County Economic Development Council. 2nd by Fritschle.
